# Obtaining an API Key

Note: This tutorial assumes you've already linked your account or created a developer account with your plan

Now that you've picked a plan and subscribed to the Stradr API, you're ready to request an API key and get started.  

First, navigate to the Stradr account settings:

Then, click on the tab labelled "Developer settings":

Finally, click on the button labelled "Issue new key", and give your key a name.  Be sure that you keep a record of the key presented on this screen, because you won't have access to the unencrypted key again and will need to issue a new one to have access to the text.

If you've followed the steps correctly, you should be able to navigate to your developer settings and see the new key listed:
